Yesterday evening my best friends and I had some sushi in the city. All I can say is: DELICIOUS!!!

I absolutely love sushi and maki <3 The lampions in the restaurant create such a lovely atmosphere:

A beautiful weekend...

I spent the weekend in Munich with one of my best friends. She visited family there and kindly took me along. Of course we visited the city centre and although it was a bit cold the weather was very sunny. Munich is a beautiful city! We drank hot mead at Viktualienmarkt and then ate some sushi - delicious!

A lovely weekend!

Busy day...

Spent the whole morning in school (I love becoming a teacher!), had a quick meal at home and then off to University. On the way there I visited the local knitting shop and bought some new yarn. On the way home from Uni I visited another shop and purchased some more yarn :P

Isn't it pretty? New bunnies waiting to be knitted!

Mum is already designing the next clothing bundle although I've just finished one leg of the newest bunny.

About the bunny idea/pattern

Now that you saw the bunny I wanted to tell you a bit about how I got the idea to make one and what pattern I used.

As mentioned in one of my earlier posts I was looking for a knitting project other than knitting scarfs all the time. So I browsed the internet and stumbled across Fuzzy Mitten. Barbara Prime's work is fantastic! Her toys are so adorable, I mean just look at some of them: such a cute bunny, lamb and bear! She even designed an alpaca which I'll definitely have to knit because my mum loves alpacas! Her work is perfect and you should definitely check it out.

For my first bunny I used a mixture of her bunny and lamb pattern. I want to change some things for the next bunny (make the body a bit smaller, maybe make the arms a bit shorter etc.), though.

The bunny's dress was designed by my mum. She got herself inspired by Barbara Prime's and some other knitting sites and just came up with something. The upper half of the dress is crocheted because my mum says it's an easier way to form the dress around the bunny. She has lots of toy-clothes-knitting-experience because she had to dress up all of my brother's and my toys when we were little. ;-)

I also love the Fuzzy Mitten bat, it's so fitting for autumn:

Finished bunny

Finished the little prototype bunny yesterday evening. My mum helped me and knitted/crocheted the dress.

Here she is:

Pauline

I think she looks like a Pauline!

The next bunny is already in the making. :)

Our interests in knitting right now...

As I mentioned in my last post I recently knitted a new scarf. Here it is:

Scarf 1

As you can see, I did a tube scarf because I wanted to have something very warm for next winter (Austrian winters are usually quite cold). I bought the yarn last year and cannot remember what particular one it is (I do remember that it was especially recommended for scarfs). It feels very soft and cosy, though. I used simple stockinette stitch.

Me wearing it:

Scarf 3

As you can see, I finished the seam so that it's invisible when the scarf is folded. I just turned the scarf around after half of the seam was done and did the other side:

Scarf 4

My mum has been knitting lots of socks (different sizes and different patterns that she came up with herself, using sock-yarn made of microfiber). I especially like the white/grey ones because they have such a wintry feeling:

What I've been working on lately:

Bunny 1

This little bunny is a prototype because I've been trying out different leg/ear/body forms. Embroidering the bunny's face is really difficult and I'm still not quite satisfied with the outcome. Need to practise a bit more. I'm completely in love with the little bunny right now, it's so cute!

Will try to finish it tommorow. Pictures soon hopefully!

The Beginning

My mom and I have always loved and enjoyed knitting. Because I've recently taken up a completely new project and my mum has been knitting a lot due to an illness that is keeping her to the couch I've decided to share our work with you.

Some information about us:

My mom (Renate) is regularly knitting something (mostly sweaters for my dad or gifts for friends and colleagues) because she finds it very relaxing, especially after a long day of work. She is very skilled and can knit almost everything due to her life-long experience.

I have been knitting very infrequently over the last few years because I had other interests as a teenager but have done a few scarfs now and then. Recently, I took up knitting again because I was in need of a new scarf (;-)) and got quite addicted to it again! Since then I have been looking for new projects and became very interested in knitting toys.

I'll post about our current projects in the next few days.

(I'm going to write this blog in German as well because I hope to reach a broader readership through that.)
